The fruitful death of modal collapse arguments

چکیده
Modal collapse arguments are all the rage in certain philosophical circles as of late. The purport to show that classical theism entails absurdly fatalistic conclusion everything exists necessarily. My first aim this paper is bold: put an end action-based modal against theism. To accomplish this, I articulate ‘Simple Collapse Argument’ and then characterize defend Tomaszewski’s criticism thereof. Second, critically examine Mullins’ new argument formulated response aforementioned criticism. argue does not succeed. Third, a powers-based has received much less attention literature. Fourth, why God’s being purely actual, well identical each acts, simply cannot entail given indeterministic causation. This, take it, signals death arguments. But hope lost for proponents arguments—for fruitful one insofar it paves way inquiry into at least two potential problems Showing my paper’s second aim.

Modal Constructions in Sociological Arguments∗
This paper introduces modal logics to a sociological audience. We first provide an overview of the formal properties of this family of models and outline key differences with classical first-order logic. We then build a model to represent processes of perception and belief core to social theories. To do this, we define our multi-modal language and then add substantive constraints that specify t...

متن کاملA Measured Collapse of the Modal µ-Calculus Alternation Hierarchy
The μ-calculus model-checking problem has been of great interest in the context of concurrent programs. Beyond the need to use symbolic methods in order to cope with the state-explosion problem, which is acute in concurrent settings, several concurrency related problems are naturally solved by evaluation of μ-calculus formulas. The complexity of a naive algorithm for model checking a μ-calculus...
متن کاملFruitful design: the CDM
As the famous Rolling Stone’s song goes: “You can’t always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, well you might find, you get what you need”. What we want, and what we need are sometimes quite different things. In some ways, this may epitomize the United Nations’ Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), a market based mechanism that creates a way for developed countries and companies to offset...
